How to Choose Art for a Large Wall
Start with wall width, viewing distance and nearby furniture. Large art needs breathing room and safe installation access; confirm finished framed size and delivery route before commissioning framing.
Measure the composition, not just the wall
Note the width of nearby furniture, the height of the ceiling and where people usually stand or sit. A single large piece, a pair and a group of smaller works create different rhythms. Use paper templates to compare their outer framed dimensions before choosing. Leave room around sockets, lighting, door openings and furniture.
Check access before choosing the largest size
A work that fits the wall may still be difficult to deliver through a stairwell or lift. Confirm the packed dimensions and weight, including any crate, as well as the final frame size. Ask about a room visualisation using your measurements; it is a planning aid and should be checked against the written dimensions.
