What Is a Giclée Print?
Giclée is a broad term for high-quality inkjet printing. It does not by itself confirm paper, ink, permanence or edition quality. Ask for the precise substrate, printer process and edition documentation.
Go beyond the label
Giclée is used broadly for inkjet prints. It does not specify whether the work uses pigment inks, which paper or canvas is supplied, or whether the artist has authorised a limited edition. Request those details separately. The production term should sit alongside the artist, title, medium and edition information.
Check how the image will be presented
Ask whether the printed image includes a border, whether the work arrives flat or stretched, and whether framing is included. A canvas print and a paper print need different presentation decisions. If colour or surface texture is important to your choice, request a detail photograph or an available material reference before approving production.
